22?Custom Diesel Inboard Center Console 1984/2006
One of a kind, totally rebuilt boat including new power. Perfect for sailfish, tarpon, cocktails or family beach cruising. Beautiful teak decks and covering boards plus freshly varnished trim. This boat always gets admiring looks and questions at the dock. The hull is reportedly from a Gulfstream mold that was originally finished by staff from Merrett in Floridia. The Manufactures Statement of Origin calls the boat a Morgan 22 built by Daniels. I also have reference to the boat being called a Sword 22. The origins of this boat are not as important as what we have done during the 22 years of ownership. The boat has been constantly upgraded and maintained including two major refits that have left very little of the boat original. This is not a tired old boat or a backyard fix up special but totally custom, premium quality boat in better than new condition. Specifications include:
24? L.O.A 8? Beam Draft 2? 6?
250 + HP Peninsular Diesel Engine (marine version of a HUMVE engine). Installed new March 2007. Current engine hours170
Major refits in 1998 and 2006
Custom aluminum Tow Master Trailer
82 gallons fuel in three tanks.
Cruise speed 22-30 knots, top speed 33 + knots
1998 refit included removal, re-engineering and replacement of all decking, repair to two stringers(water damage) and a rebuild of the fuel tanks. A Twin Disc 2010A 1.44:1 transmission was installed. An additional 18 gallon poly fuel tank was added under the forward deck. Custom in deck floor storage was added.
In October of 2005, the boat was submerged at the dock due to a faulty stuffing box. Thankfully, we had good insurance, a wholesale West Marine account and plenty of experience repairing and contracting work on this boat. The sinking gave us the rare opportunity to plan a total rebuild with all of the improvements we had imagined over year of ownership. Specifics include:

is run low or air gets into the fuel system during filter changes.

Deck and above water line thru hull fittings replaced with polished stainless
All interior surfaces painted. Console, decks and gunnels painted with awl-grip

January 2007, after 100 hours of service, the engine failed and was replaced with a new unit from Peninsular. This engine is a military spec block, the same used in HUMVES. Horsepower is listed at 250 but estimated closer to 300. This rating is variable by adjusting the fuel pump. At its current setting, the boat has much more power than it needs.
Other equipment includes:
Danforth anchor mounted on deck with 6? stainless chain and 175? rode.
Lee outriggers with gunnel and T-Top mounts.
Fiberglass swim platform
Three in floor storage compartments
Freshly varnished teak trim and forward locker doors
8 Lee rod holders
Removable live bait well
Coast guard safety equipment
Large spares inventory
Sunbrella canvas cover for on shore storage that covers the entire
boat from the rub rail up.
Additional pictures and July 2006 survey available on request. Survey was $37,000 without the trailer or the new engine.
The boat is realistically priced for today?s market at $27,000. This is a small fraction of replacement value or the cost of the up-fit.
