OPEN FOR PRE-ORDERS:
I am a Mazdaspeed MX5 owner and painfully small business that shares design and production of products specifically for the Miata community.
My profit margins are very thin while offering a high quality product for a reasonable price.
With approximately 10 pre-orders, I am planning to bring my factory seat lowering rails back into production with design and manufacturing updates that make them lighter, simpler, and much more cost effective. The new version rails will be laser cut 3/16 mild steel for the rails and seat belt bracket.
The new version will come powder coated in a Black Satin finish, closely matching Rustoleum Black Satin paint that can be used for touchup.
The new version has the same geometry as the original, just simpler manufacturing processes to lower the cost while providing a better finish.
As with the original product, the kit comes with all installation hardware and detailed installation instructions.
The new price point will be $100.00 per seat with free shipping in the continental United States.
The price does not include sales tax if applicable (Texas Residents).
A LITTLE HISTORY:
About 2 years ago I produced a small quantity of seat rails that effectively lowered the stock drivers seat on NA and NB MX5s by 1 .
The rails reduced vehicle weight by over 5 pounds for each seat, eliminated the stock seat rails along with forward and rearward adjustment to the seat bottom and retained the back recline feature.
The rails were designed specifically for someone around 6-0 in height but work well for anyone between 5-10 and 6-2 (my height).
The seat bottom is raised slightly in the front to better support your legs and lowered in the rear accomplishing the net height reduction while providing a much better and ergonomically improved seating position.
The seatbelt is no longer connected to the seat rails, but is fastened directly to the transmission tunnel using a mild steel bracket and grade 8 bolt in the same size and thread as the OEM seatbelt attachment point.
Transmission tunnel mounting is commonly used on track cars with racing seats and harnesses.
PM me with your order interest and PayPal information and so I can add you to the pre-order list.
You will be informed when the rails are ready for shipment via a PayPal invoice and the rails will be shipped next business day after receipt of payment.
I expect turn around on the product to be approximately 30 days after interest grows to 10 orders.
