1995 E36 Sedan LS1 swap, AC, PS, PW. Located in MD
Finally decided to sell my E36 LS1 swap that I really don?t drive all that much anymore now that I bought a truck. I have had the car for 5 years and it was my DD for the first 3 years and never left me stranded and was always a blast to drive! Now that I have a truck I no longer drive the car nearly as much as before.
The vehicle is located in Southern Maryland, about 40 miles south of DC.

Finally decided to sell my E36 LS1 swap that I really don’t drive all that much anymore now that I bought a truck. I have had the car for 5 years and it was my DD for the first 3 years and never left me stranded and was always a blast to drive! Now that I have a truck I no longer drive the car nearly as much as before.
The whole swap has logged over 31k miles. The first LS1 I installed was from a WS6 Trans Am and I logged about 21k on that setup until it spun a rod bearing. The current engine I bought 3 years ago and was from a 2003 50th anniversary Corvette with 73k when I got it and I have put about 10k on it so far.
In MD, an OBD1 car (1995) only has to pass the idle test for emissions which this car has done twice so far (I have a separate emissions tune on HPTuners for it (Tune included if desired, HPTuners cable is not included)). Being that the car is now 20 years old, it can be registered as rod/historic and there is no need for emissions or inspections anymore, which is why I originally chose a 1995 BMW. You can now easily turbo/supercharge or put a much larger non-emissions friendly cam in it and never have to worry. I was going to eventually Turbo the car but honestly decided I needed a bigger car overall. All mods are listed below. The swap kit was made by Vorshlag.
The AC, heat, and power steering all work perfectly. The car starts easily every time and shifts smooth. I can easily get 22+ mpg city. I have never taken the car on a long highway drive but I believe the highway mpg would be near 30 in 6th gear. Car is currently running a Ground Control coilover conversion kit on the 325i strut housings. I have M3 strut housings that are included in the purchase as well. With the M3 strut housings you can utilize the M3 sway bar attachment points and use any valved Koni strut inserts you like. I am running -3 degrees of front camber (swapped strut hats) and -2 degrees in the rear. The front toe is aligned to 0 and rear to factory. The car is set for mild understeer due to the power oversteer that can be achieved with the amount of available torque from the LS. The brakes calipers are from a 99 M3 parts car. The pads are PFC Z-Rated pads with powerslot rotors on all four corners. The rear subframe has weld in reinforcements and Powerflex subframe bushings. The RTAB bushings are new with delrin limiters installed. The front control arms are new with treehouse lollipop brackets and bushings. The tire setup is square 255/35/18 on Avant Garde M310 18x9.5. The rear tires are brand new Pirelli P Zero and the fronts have about 50% tread left.
The interior is untouched from when I bought the donor car at 165k but looks as though the PO took great care of it. The only changes I personally made were the addition of the black powered vader seats and I installed my Alpine IVA-D310 headunit. I’m not a huge sound guy so I didn’t add anything additional to the stereo. The V8 sound was good enough for me. Sunroof works great as do all powered windows. The car does not currently have any type of keyless entry installed.
Now on to the bad:
The most glaring problem that sticks out is the condition of the paint and body. I would rate it a 6-6.5/10 overall. There are plenty of scratches and dings on the doors and rear trunk lid. They are not super easy to see but they are there nonetheless. The front and rear quarter panels, front bumper, hood, and roof are all in pretty good condition (8/10 at least). The original hood was replaced from a donor car which was in much better condition. The rear bumper has a nice license plate bracket mark due to contact from another vehicle on the parts car M3 it was attached too. The front/rear bumpers, size skirts, and molding are all from the 99 M3 parts car. This car has never been in any collisions of its own.
The rear of the drivers seat has bolster wear and the headrest has a nick in the leather.
The engine and aluminum parts have oxidation due to low mileage driven during the last few years.
The exhaust has some blemishes due to the cars low ride height and getting in and out of my garage. I have revised the hangers about 3 times now and haven’t gotten around to a 4th iteration so it is held up by steel cabling and honestly works great. I have 4 poly exhaust mounts that I will include as they were going to be part of my 4th and final solution but honestly I believe those would just increase the NVH.
I have tried to be as transparent as possible and if you think of anything I have not addressed please do not hesitate to ask!
