C/N's: This car is mostly stock and runs, drives, and stops just fine. It has "project car" in the title because it has been sitting for a few years and will need some TLC to get back on the road full-time. The exterior is the roughest part of the car, and it would make a good base for someone to make a rally/track car, or just the ultimate winter beater. 147k miles, clean CT title.
Long version: I got this car in 08 with about 30k on it, for years it was my daily driver and occasional TSD rally car. 90% of the miles are low stress highway commuting miles, I autocrossed it once, never tracked it, never street raced it, never really launched it on tarmac. The engine, turbo, transmission, clutch, ect are all original and stock. You're not buying some nightmare Frankenstein of a build here, clean slate.
The other 10% of the miles were put on going full sideways on snow-covered dirt roads at improbable speeds in VT and NH. The front bumper is now 50% zip-ties by weight due to being smashed into quite a few snowbanks. I don't want to pretend she's had an easy life, she hasn't. But no major accidents.
I then stopped driving the car and let it sit, always meaning to turn it into a more rally focused build but never got around to it. I've gotten tired of friends telling me they want to buy it then waffling. Before I put a bunch of time and effort into cleaning her up I figure I'll see if anyone wants to buy her and build it to their needs. Below is an honest overview.
Engine/Drivetrain: Stock, good condition. Timing belt and water pump done last year in prep for sale.
Suspension: Stock, tired. Rides slightly choppy, could use a complete suspension refresh I'm sure. Rear struts always clunked, known STi problem.
Brakes: Aftermarket pads with plenty of life left in them, rotors are rusted and pitted. Stops just fine but a little noisy. Will need rotors in the long run.
Interior: Mostly stock, decent condition. Has 02/03 WRX seats in it at the moment (fronts are better for skinny people, rear has the pass-through to the trunk) Also have the stock STi Smurph-hide seats, will install whichever set the buyer wants, also will come with the other set. The front STi seats had the majority of the DD wear and tear on them and could use a good cleaning. Cobb adjustable short shifter with WC lathe works shift extender and knob.
Exterior: Mostly stock, rough condition. Front bumper needs to be replaced, hood is drilled for included PIAA lightpod, driver's side A-pillar has dent in it, passenger side rear quarter has dent in it, paint faded and peeling on roof. Basically there isn't a clean panel on the car, it needs a new front bumper, some light body work, and then a complete respray or vinyl wrap or plastidiping. Only good thing about the outside is the Enkei RPF1 wheels in panty-dropping gold. They only got run for a year before I stopped driving the car so they're pretty much flawless, unless you consider it a flaw that they're wrapped in studded General Altimax snow tires.
Engine bay, underside: No rot, usual amount of New England surface rust.
Other Mods: RA aluminum rally skid plate. A rear diff skid plate I never installed, a rear harness bar I never installed. PIAA lightpod, not currently installed but wired up correctly with a relay triggered by the high beam switch. I've got a whole bunch of Rota wheels that come with the car if you want them, no full sets (New England potholes are not kind to Rotas)
Car is located in Newtown CT, 06470. Can deliver reasonable distance. Someone with some mechanical ability and a 36 piece Craftsman toolkit could fly and drive this cross-country if they wanted to.
Price is $9k firm, cash only. Please don't waste my time or yours asking if I'll take 8 and an old Xbox, I won't. If it doesn't sell I'll be fixing the body work and selling it for a higher price in the spring.
