I have up for sale, my 1978 Rickenbacker 4001. It has a black (jetglo) finish. I am the 2nd owner of the bass, the original was a guitarist whom basically used it for recording, the treble pickup cover has never been off the bass according to him, a truly untouched gem.
It has a slim neck. While it has some wear, it is a great example of a 70's 4001. The finish is a nice gloss still and there are some light dings and dents but its pretty clean all over. The worst is some minor areas where the finish is worn through on the back edge shown, very small. Also one spot on the headstock with some finish loss. There is some light buckle rash on the back, have to angle the bass to see it. Small crack on pickguard but in a area that doesnt warrant replacement unless it bothers you. Jack plate show withe RJ serial number, which is 1978. Photos are of when I first got the bass so as you can see the strings are old and were strung by a guitarist , it has new d'addrios on it now.
It Includes a original tolex case, which is in really good shape a testament of its use as a recording not gigging bass , all latches work well, the interior is clean and free of smells. I've had 6 70s 4001's and this is the cleanest both on condition of the bass and case.
$1899 Shipped CONUS- I don't believe I can do international because of size restrictions of the case
