Here is a working Gunsmithed single shot, heavy barrel conversion of an1865 carbine rifle re-barreled with an unknown named heavy 27” .50 octagon barrel. The condition of this barrel is excellent. No corrosion, pitting, lands and grooves sharp. There is a Spencer inspection mark (M) on the left side of the receiver and a W, M & P on the action, see photo. There are not no cartouches on the stock, and the rear swivel mount has been expertly plugged. All though this is a single shot the tube mag comes with it.
Single shot conversion.
I was told some plains hunters did this to have the ability to switch quickly to a more powerful round, if needed, without dumping the entire magazine tube.
Note: The brass tacks have been removed. They will be included with the rifle should you want to put them back.
