For sale is this Winchester XTR Featherweight in .270 Win. This XTR Featherweight has a 22 inch barrel with no sights. Serial number G1597xxx, New Haven Ct. manufacture from 1982. Satin finished, checkered walnut stock with schnabel forend, sling swivel studs, pistol grip cap, and original rubber butt pad. Blue and wood finish are 99%+. The black on triggerguard is 100%. It is unfired and in 99%+ condition.
The Featherweight has a satin finished walnut stock; sealed from the elements, nice grain and good coloring. The wood to metal fit is clean. Steel parts are finished in deep satin blue with a good decent color match to non-ferrous parts. Very nice (laser?) cut checkering. Bolt is nicely jeweled.
The box was lost in a recent move but I do have the hanging tag from the trigger guard.
This rifle has the Winchester Repeating Rifles logo stamped into the butted with the USRAC licensing copy running around the outside of the circle.
The scope is a Leupold Vari-x III, 2.5 - 8 x 36mm (1" tube), matte finish, with a manufacture date of 2000, mounted with a Leupold 1-piece base and Leupold rings, with Butler Creek pop-up scope caps. 100% condition. Scope is mounted fairly low, but high enough for a perfect view at all magnifications with a natural cheek-weld with head erect.
The trigger is crisp with little creep or perceptible over-travel. It feels like it's around 5.5lbs.
The slender, graceful stock and attractive blueing on these XTR (and Classic) Featherweights have moved people to call these simply the best looking production rifles ever made.
