I picked up this mint Burt Foster chopper right here, about a month ago. I had picked up a number of choppers over the last six months to check out, and have decided choppers are not for me. This is the last one to go. And it is an outstanding piece, to say the least. The text below is copied from the original owner's BF Exchange listing:
"A special knife for sale, no trades desired. This is number one of five tornado relief knives made by Burt, who retired the design after they were made. Never used or carried, I am the original owner. This a knife that begs to be used and can be an awesome heirloom since it is built to outlast one owner.
The knife is made from a 1” bar of 52100 steel, tapered tang, integral bolster design, with a working finish. Green canvas micarta handles and a heavy duty leather sheath. Well-balanced to excel at chopping and outdoor chores. Wonderful ergonomics.
You can read a very nice story about how the five tornado relief knives came to be made by Burt here: http://www.burtfoster.com/tornado_re...ief_knives.htm
Blade length: 9.5”
Blade width: about 3/8” at the bolster tapering gradually to about ?” near the end of the spine
Weight: 20.6 oz (knife alone)
Please note: USA sales only. Will only ship to the address associated with your Paypal account. Payment by USPS M.O. also welcome. Price includes shipping via USPS Priority, insured with delivery confirmation."
$700 shipped (CONUS), which is $300 less than the $1000 original price, as listed in the Burt Foster mailing. And the sheath, well, Burt Foster is a master at leather. Oh, there will be no pricing reductions on this piece whatsoever.
First post to this listing indicating "I'll take it" gets it.
