I just acquired an 87 XL600R. 2700 original miles.
Last registered in 1988. Last ridden in 1988.
It was started recently, and it smokes, I'm pretty sure it's valve seals.
It seems to be 100% stock, except it's got a giant rear sprocket on it.
Fork seals are leaking, But I didn't see any rust or pits on the tubes.
It doesn't appear to be all crashed on, the stock bars are still on it, as are the stock turn signals.
It has a lot of potential.
A complete 600 engine that needs a rebuild is on EBay for $1000.
I'm pretty certain that this engine is still tight, but if it were me, and I was going to do a restoration or hotrod or Supermoto project, I would get in there and look (while replacing the valve seals).
I want to trade it for a MIG or TIG welder, Lincoln or Miller, no Harbor Freight please.
Preferably a 180, 210 or 252/255 amp MIG, or a decent TIG.
I can also trade up if you have a particularly nice welder.
