Artiste Racine established the watch company bearing his name in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland, in 1914. In addition to his "Racine" brand, he also established the "Enicar" brand ("Racine" spelled backwards). Racine produced his own movements in-house, which was not that common even in the early days of modern watchmaking. AR ("Artiste Racine") movements earned a solid reputation for high quality, even as Racine marketed and sold them at very reasonable prices. Here's a vintage Enicar "Star Jewels" with Racine's workhorse 17 jewel calibre AR1140 mechanical movement. ENICAR (SS "Star Jewels") - Excellent 35mm signed stainless steel screwback case with aquatic "Saturn" logo on the case back, signed 17 jewel calibre AR1140 movement, excellent off-white dial with raised silver bar markers, raised silver "Saturn" logo at 12:00, silver dauphine hands and sweep seconds, black stitched leather strap with stainless steel buckle. The signed stainless steel screwback case on this piece is in excellent condition, and features an entertaining logo on the case back. The signed 17 jewel AR1140 calibre movement is running and keeping good time. The dial is in excellent condition. VINTAGE ENICAR SS "STAR JEWELS" WITH IN-HOUSE AR CALIBRE 1140 MOVEMENT! Sell for $79 plus $7 Priority Insured US shipping ($25 International Registered).
