Hi, I am selling one of my grail watches to fund a new purchase in the works.
In my opinion, and I think shared by many, this is the best Big Pilot IWC has made to date. It was a limited run of 1000 pieces and they rarely come up for sale. Compared to the regular petit prince big pilot, this one has applied white gold hour markers which give the big dial additional depth. Also, the hour and minute hands are a little more refined and more "sword" like. The blue of the dial is also a different hue. I am not a great photographer so I am afraid my pictures don't do this watch justice when it comes to how stunning that dial really is. I took pictures using natural light as that best shows it off.
This set includes, as pictured, the IWC box, instruction manual, warranty papers and warranty card dated May 2016 from an IWC AD.
Overall, the case is in excellent to near mint condition with no dents or deep scratches. A couple of swirls but nothing major. The only thing of note is that on the crystal itself, there is a small chip that I have tried my best to captured. It is not big by any means, but visible under certain angles. It is next to the I of IWC - happy to provide any additional photos you may want. This is how I bought the watch, so I don't know how it came about.
I have spoken to an IWC authorized repair shop in Chicago (Burdeens) and they say the replacement cost is approximately $300. If this turns out to be a major sticking point in the sale, I will just have it replaced myself.
The watch winds smooth, date clicks in place and switches at exactly 12 oclock. On my last timing (hacking the seconds and setting against time.gov), the watch gained about 10 sec. per day, which is very much in line with this generation of big pilots that have a single barrel. I do not know the service history of it but since it was bought new in 2016, I would think it wont need a service for a while.
The original strap has been used and I would say its about 60-70%. I have worn it on the two aftermarket straps pictured and included in the sale. Both leather (the Horween one is the the brown one, the other is blue gator print with white stitching) and giving the watch a very different look. Both in excellent condition with a lot of life left.
I am asking $8,900 for it through paypal + fees or F&F, overnight shipped to CONUS with UPS.
No trades please.
