Here is a classic 1950's vintage Movado stainless steel triple register chronograph with the reknown calibre 95 movement! Movado was one of the first Swiss watch manufacturers to produce wrist chronographs, beginning in 1912, and Movado produced the first split-seconds chronograph in 1921. While Movado was reknown for the manufacture of their own innovative chronograph movements, in 1936 Movado commissioned Frederic Piguet of Le Brassus to produce the chronograph calibres 90 and 95, which are recognized as among the finest mechanical chronograph movements ever produced! Here's the details on this highly collectible complicated timepiece: MOVADO (SS Three-Register Chronograph) - Excellent 34mm signed stainless steel screwback case (A103506/19038) with stepped bezel and round chronograph push buttons at 2:00 and 4:00, signed 17 jewel calibre 95 chronograph movement (adjusted two positions) with inner dust cover, excellent signed silver satin dial with three sunken registers (constant seconds, minutes to 60, hours to 12), raised silver arrow markers and arabic numerals at the quarters, silver and luminous pencil hands and chronograph sweep seconds, original crown, soft lamb leather black strap with stainless steel buckle. The calibres 90-95 chronograph movements were manufactured by Movado from the late thirties until the late sixties, enjoying a long but limited production run until the advent of the automatic chronograph movement ("El Primero") in the late 1960's. The signed stainless steel screwback case is in excellent condition and bears initials on the case back. The stainless steel screwback case is a Movado-signed "Vacuum" case designed and produced by Francois Borgel, one of the leading case makers for Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, and other fine Swiss watchmaking firms. The signed 17 jewel calibre 95 chronograph movement is adjusted two positions, is running fine, keeping excellent time, and all chronograph functions work as designed. The design and function of the calibre 95 chronograph movement is unique, with the bottom push button controlling the starting and stopping of the chronograph movement, allowing for split times, while the top push button is the reset button. The signed silver satin refinished dial is in excellent condition. The crown is original. This is a classic and highly collectible complicated timepiece from the 1950's!
