Description

engine type 911/82 serial 6461547
transmission type 915/44 serial 7163710 (at least that's what i make out)
this is coming out in favor of a monster 3.8
motor runs well. it smokes at start up. not always though, mainly when cold. once it warms up it will start without smoke. if you look at the video, the motor ran for less than a minute when i started it back up and as you can see, no smoke.
it sputters for a few seconds when cold and then settles to a nice idle and revs happy from there. i have not pulled the valve covers to confirm but i do not hear the typical sound of a broken head stud. odometer shows 156k miles but there is evidence of this motor having been apart before. unfortunately i have no documentation on it.
the motor does leak oil. from what i can see it leaks from the valve covers and the main pulley seal. there may be other leaks but i have not diagnosed them. the motor runs smooth without any knocks or strange noises. it will need a tune up. basically a quick reseal and plugs, wires, rotor, points, etc.
i wanted to do a compression test but the spark plug leads are brittle and i'm afraid to destroy them as they are not wanting to come out easily. it would be best to address the wires with the engine out of the car.
the 915 transmission works like butter. all gears engage without fuss or grinding. clutch is tight.
come and take it for a spin before i pull it out.
asking $6500 for complete motor with exhaust and tranny
may consider selling the motor alone for $5500 and holding on to trans
i can strap it to a pallet and deliver it to the freight company of your choice
you could drop this into a car and drive it as is if you wanted to
