Description

As my collection has grown a bit too large, I am selling some very nice vintage watches that are simply not receiving enough wrist time.
Frankly, I've been planning to do this for several months now, but have been lazy about taking photos, etc. So, I've decided to list quite a few that are for sale, with descriptions and a single photo of each. Anyone who is interested in a particular watch can PM me, and I will be happy to send further photos, and answer any questions. These are the basics, and they will apply to every watch being sold:
They are located in Lisbon, Portugal, where I live, and will be shipped from that country. This means that those living in the EU will not have to worry about Customs duties.
I can either ship using regular, uninsured Portuguese Post with tracking, which is inexpensive but typically quite reliable, or through EMS, which is faster, can be insured, but is much more expensive. Typical charges for regular post would be roughly €5.00–10.00. EMS, depending on destination, can be up to around €60.00. Please note that if the uninsured option is chosen, the buyer will be responsible for any loss. I have not encountered a single problem with the regular Portuguese Post over the time that I have lived here, but some risk will always be present.
All watches will be carefully packed, and tracking numbers promptly provided.
I am well known on various vintage forums around the world, and have many references. I also do my best to describe watches accurately, and tend to be conservative in my assessments. In other words, when I say "excellent", I mean excellent, not "good".
Given the age of these watches, I make no claims of specific accuracy, nor water resistance. Unless otherwise noted, please assume that the watch has not been recently serviced.
All case measurements are excluding the crown.
I will guarantee satisfaction only to the extent that the watches should arrive in the condition described. In the unlikely event that I fail to describe a watch accurately, I will be happy to refund the buyer on safe return.Paypal fees and economy shipping are included at my asking prices. Bank transfer (USD or EURO) also accepted.
I will update the list as watches are sold.
Feel free to ask any questions!
Regards,
Tony C.
*****#1 Cyma Watersport
An attractive, elegant, understated, manual-wind watch, that could easily be used as a dress watch, or for everyday wear. Applied steel markers at 3, 6, 9, and 12, and a nice applied logo as well. Pretty silver sunray dial. The unpolished, steel screw back case measures 34mm. I believe it to be all original, though the crown is unsigned.
Dial: excellent
Hand-set: excellent
Case: good; some scratches on the back which could be polished out if desired, and a small nick on the bezel above the 12:00 marker
Movement: cal. R486; excellent
Crystal: very good overall, but shows a small patch of cloudiness (bubbling?) at the 11:00 position
Crown: excellent; winds and sets smoothly
Strap: good; thin, croco grain leather; used; modest quality
The watch has not been timed, and the last service date in unknown.
Price: $285.00#2 Gruen Diver Style
This is a manual-wind Gruen Precision diver style watch, featuring a very attractive silver sunray dial. The unpolished, (full) steel screw back case measures 35mm. It is correctly signed, though manufactured in France. There is a dust cap further protecting the movement. I believe the watch to be all original, including the unsigned crown.
Dial: excellent
Hand-set: excellent
Case: good; a few small scratches on the back, all but one of which are light
Movement: cal. N31033; excellent
Crystal: excellent
Crown: excellent; winds and sets smoothly
Strap: generic steel (not original); modest quality
The watch is working, but has not been timed, and the last service date in unknown.
Price: $325.00#3 Certina Argonaut 220
This is an automatic, cushion-cased Certina from the Argonaut model line. The unpolished, (full) steel screw back case measures 33x39mm, and dates the watch production to 1968. The case, dial, movement and crown are all signed. The watch is in excellent condition throughout.
Dial: crosshair; vertically brushed; excellent
Hand-set: excellent
Case: excellent
Movement: cal. 25-651; excellent
Crystal: excellent
Crown: excellent; winds and sets smoothly
Strap: generic leather (not original); modest quality
The watch is working, but has not been timed, and the last service date in unknown.
PLEASE NOTE: the watch now has a generic black leather strap
Price: $225.00#4 Certina Automatic w/Black Dial
This is a very attractive and uncommon, early Certina automatic, featuring a black dial, sculpted lugs, and yellow gold-colored dial furniture. Based on the case number, it was manufactured around 1954. The unpolished, steel screw-back case is very elegant, and measures 33mm. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. The watch is in very good to excellent condition throughout, and I believe it to be fully original.
Dial: very good; some minor lacquer degradation can be seen around the center of the dial
Hand-set: very good; slight oxidation and intact lume; note that they are gold colored, which is not clear in the photo
Case: excellent, unpolished
Movement: cal. 28-451; excellent with a few light scratches on the rotor

Crown: excellent; winds and sets smoothly
Strap: generic leather (not original); modest quality

Price: $475.00#5 Early ETERNA Bumper
This is an attractive early Eterna bumper automatic, featuring a pretty dial, sculpted lugs, and sub-seconds. Based on the case number, it was manufactured late 1945. The unpolished, steel screw-back case is elegant, and measures 32mm. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. The watch is in good condition for its age, and I believe it to be fully original.
Dial: good
Hand-set: very good, but believed to have been re-lumed
Case: very good, unpolished
Movement: cal. 834; fair to good, shows plate loss on one of the parts

This is a typically funky RADO, but quite an uncommon model, and in excellent condition throughout. The unpolished, steel screw-back case measures 35.5mm. The case, dial, movement, and slightly recessed crown are all signed. I believe it to be fully original.
Dial: excellent
Hand-set: excellent

Strap: generic leather (not original); modest quality
The watch is working, but has not been timed, and the last service date in unknown.
Price: $475.00#7 Marvin Chronometer Victory
A nice watch from one of the most underrated vintage brands, IMO. The unpolished case measures 34mm, and the watch is in good to very good condition overall. The case, dial, movement, and crown are all signed, and I believe the watch to be fully original, with the possible exception of the second hand, which is shorter than it should be.
Dial: good to very good; there are small (oil?) stains near the six and eight markers
Hand-set: very good; second hand either had a piece broken off at some point, or is a replacement
Case: excellent, unpolished
Movement: cal.620A; excellent; note that unlike many chronometers, Marvin typically did not mark adjustments on their movements
Crystal: excellent
Crown: excellent; winds and sets smoothly
Strap: generic leather (not original); modest quality
The watch is working, but has not been timed, and the last service date in unknown.
Price: $350.00#7 ROAMER Anfibio
This is an attractive example of the popular Anfibio line from ROAMER. The unpolished, steel screw-back case is sharp, and measures 35mm. The case, dial, crown and movement are all signed. The watch is in very good to excellent condition for its age, and I believe it to be fully original.
Dial: excellent
Hand-set: very good;
the hour hand has lost the original lume
Case: very good to excellent, unpolished; snap-back
Movement: excellent; unsure of the caliber, and reluctant to attempt to open the case to check
Crystal: excellent
Crown: excellent; winds and sets properly
Strap: generic leather (not original); modest quality
The watch is working, but has not been timed, and the last service date in unknown.
