Here is a beautiful black dial stainless steel IWC Schaffhausen with the reknown calibre 89 movement! The calibre 89 movement was introduced by IWC in 1938, and formed the basis for the robust series of C85 calibres, including automatics with calendar function. The calibre 89 gained notoriety as a workhorse movement for military and pilot's watches, but the accuracy and reliability of the movement served dress watch designs as well. The calibre 89 watches produced by IWC during the 1950's/60's are considered by many to be among the finest men's wristwatches ever made. Here is a beautiful vintage IWC with the legendary calibre 89 movement, rare in stainless steel: IWC Schaffhausen (SS Calibre 89) - Excellent 35mm signed stainless steel snapback case (#1719123) with extended lugs (43mm lug to lug), signed 17 jewel calibre 89 movement, excellent signed black dial with raised silver bar markers, silver hands and sweep seconds, black crocodile strap. The solid stainless steel snapback case on this piece is in excellent condition, and is signed on the inner caseback with the IWC Probus and the serial number 1719123. The classic 17 jewel signed calibre 89 movement is running fine and keeping excellent time. The beautiful refinished black dial is in excellent condition and is signed, "International Watch Co., Schaffhausen, Swiss." This watch, a stainless steel vintage IWC with the reknown calibre 89 movement, is considered by many to be the classic man's timepiece. These calibre 89 pieces are becoming harder to find.
