Description

FS: My CWC chronograph from the last batch from 1982 by the Royal British Navy.
THIS IS NOT THE RE-ISSUED EDITION, BUT A GENUINE MILITARY ISSUED CWC CHRONOGRAPH.
Here we have a rare timepiece, much sought after by the collectors of true and genuine military watches. It is a marvellous chronograph, so-called “asymmetrical”, manufactured by the British CWC (Cabot Watch Company) and equipped with the legendary Swiss Made movement Valjoux 7733.
CWC was established in 1972
in order to satisfy the demanding specifications of Her Majesty’s Ministry of Defence for the supplying of sturdy and reliable individual timekeeping instruments to the Armed Forces’ elites.
This chronograph has been manufactured in 1982 (last number on the back of the watch) and assigned to the Royal Navy, as can be inferred from the number engraved on the case back 0552 (UK military code chosen by the Ministry Of Defence for watches delivered to the Navy).
The Royal Navy also includes the Royal Marines (amphibious troops) and the Fleet Air Arm (navy’s aviation). This watch belonged to the batch assigned to the Officers pilots of helicopters and jet airplanes either on board of ships or stationed on the cost bases. The identification code of the kind of watch assigned to pilots is 924-3306 (also stamped on the case back)
The oval style CWC logo was first introduced in 1982. The 1982 0552 batch is the last of the issued CWC chronographs. The issue numbers range from 1515/82 to 1705/82 indicating a batch of around 200. As an aside the 15**/82 CWC chronograph batch follows the issue numbering sequence of the 1981 6BB Precista batch.
Measurements:
Heigght including domed glass: 11.9mm
Lug to lug: 45.6mm
Width including crown: 41mm
Width excluding crown: 39.3mm
Including the MN strap and an extra open-end vintage brown leather strap.
The watch keeps good time and the chronograph works perfect.
Last time serviced: 2015
The dail, glass, hands, lume are excellent. If you see a dot, it's dust on the glass, not on the dial.
Traces of use of course, but nothing bad. Without a magnifier you hardly notice it.
Price including registered and full insured well packed mail: €1995
Todays prices for an good looking and good working genuine military issued CWC chronograph are higher and rising quickly.
